This shot is taken in Christmas 2018 in Barcelona. When I saw her with a clean nice classic style (oh look at her hat <3 ) and a cute cat sitting next to her I immediately took the picture. I was happy of the result but I could not understand why she looked sad, even the cat looked a bit grumpy and sour. Later on when I posted this on my facebook a friend told me why she sat there:
According to the board at the back, that woman was looking for a place to live in. She was homeless 🙁
This made me wonder the effect of home sharing sites such as AirBnB in touristic areas. Such websites affect the more vulnerable groups, as the owners now prefer to rent the place to tourists and earn up to five times more. This affects the total rentals of the whole region and if the governments do not think about the situation, we see more and more of these sad stories…
